8 airportbusiness February/March 2016 INDUSTRY NEWS $114 Million Concourse in Memphis International Airport's Future Memphis International Airport leaders recently reported they expect to finalize designs for a $114 million concourse modernization project in late 2016. Scott Brockman, president and CEO of the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority, informed the Memphis Business Journal in early January that project designs should be completed by fall of 2016 with bids being released soon thereafter. The modernization project will include additional signage and lighting, as well as facade engineering and sustainability initiatives and will consolidate airline operations, as well as retail and food and beverage operations, into the B con- course. The south ends of both the A and C concourses will be removed to give airplanes clear access to the entire B concourse. The end of A has already been removed; timing for the removal of C will depend on the final design plans for B. The project will also ensure the terminal is up to new seismic standards.
