INDUSTRY UPDATE June/July 2018 airportbusiness 9 NAOMI PESKY JOINS THE METROPOLITAN AIRPORTS COMMISSION Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) named Naomi Pesky as the organization's new vice president of strategy and stakeholder engagement. In this newly created role that reports directly to the CEO, Pesky will create and steer multi-dimensional, comprehensive communications, engagement and marketing strategies. She will also lead organization-wide strategic planning and key community outreach efforts. Most recently, Pesky served as vice president, external relations at Hennepin Theatre Trust. Pesky assumed the role May 7. RALPH HENNESSY JOINS MICHAEL BAKER INTERNATIONAL Ralph B. Hennessy, C.M. joined Michael Baker International as the aviation services group lead for the state of Louisiana. Hennessy brings more than two decades of experience to his role at Michael Baker, most recently serving as the director of aviation for the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR). As director at BTR, Hennessy was responsible for all aviation matters within the East Baton Rouge Parish and the airport, including the overall operations, the long-term financial planning and the development and implementation of a more than $15 million annual operating budget. BOARD APPROVES PURCHASE OF 20 ELECTRIC BUSES FOR AIRSIDE USE AT LAX On April 19, the Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners approved the purchase of 20, 60-foot articulating, battery-powered electric buses to be used for airfield guest transportation. The new buses will replace older, diesel-operated buses and provide transportation for guests traveling between terminals and gates on the Los Angeles International Airport's (LAX) airfields. The new buses will also provide guests with quieter rides that produce no polluting emissions, and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) anticipates reduced maintenance costs.
