42 airportbusiness November 2014 UNDER Elizabeth Smart: Aviation just gets in your blood Safety Management System Coordinator Lambert-St. Louis International Airport Age: 34 Years in Aviation: 12 Airport Operations Coordinator Lakeland Linder Regional Airport Age: 25 Years in Aviation: 3 Growing up overseas, Elizabeth Smart had the opportunity to travel the world and experience airports across the globe. She found the hustle and bustle of airports thrilling and knew that's where she wanted to spend every day of her career. "Aviation, it just gets into your blood," she says. Smart attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Business Administration. She started her career in air- ports as an Airfield Operations Specialist in the Operations Center at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport (STL). To advance her career, she accepted a position as the Operations Manager/Assis- tant Director at Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field in Sioux City, Iowa, followed by the opportunity of a lifetime: McMurdo Airfield Supervisor, Antarctica. After checking Antarctica off her bucket list, she accepted a position as a Properties Specialist in the Properties Department at STL. She is currently STL's Safety Management System (SMS) Coordinator. DID YOU KNOW? SMART had lunch with an orangutan in Singapore. DID YOU KNOW? LUNN accumulated over 800 volunteer hours with the Florida Air Museum, Sun 'n Fun and the Destination Aviation Summer Camp program by age 17. Adam Lunn: School project sparked a love for aviation Adam Lunn says a middle school unit on World War II sparked his love for aviation. After he com- pleted his project on aircraft used in both theaters of the war, he couldn't get enough of it. He began his career in aviation as an intern at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Fla. In three short years, Lunn has climbed the ranks from an intern to that of Airport Operations Coordinator. Since coming to Lakeland, he has upgraded the Airport's annual Part 139 training program, successfully created a Spill Prevention Control and Counter Measures Plan, and redesigned and upgraded the Airport's maps. Lunn is actively engaged in sharing his passion for aviation and the promotion of aviation benefits in the local com- munity. He has been a guest speaker and workshop leader at the Aerospace Educators' Workshops held during the annual Sun 'n Fun International Fly-In and Expo. Additionally, Lunn has been a guest speaker at numerous organizational meetings such as the Central Florida Pilots' Association and the Great American Teach-In. Lunn earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of South Florida and his MBA from Florida Southern College.
